Chiang Mai is Bangkok’s calmer northern counterpart: a walled old city dense with temples, wrapped in green hills and cooler air. It moves at a gentler pace, built for wandering lanes, sipping northern coffee, and eating khao soi until you have a favourite stall.
Buddies are launching in Chiang Mai soon. In the meantime, tell us what you would want from a day here and we will build a custom trip.

What to eat
Northern Thai food is its own world: khao soi (curry noodle soup), sai ua (herby grilled sausage), nam prik ong, and sticky rice with everything. The markets are the best place to graze.
