We keep cookies to a minimum

BuddyEase uses only essential cookies, the ones that keep you signed in securely. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics that follow you around the web. This page explains what we store, why, and how to control it.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between pages or visits, most commonly that you are logged in. Websites also use related technologies such as local storage and session storage, which do a similar job. We refer to all of these as “cookies” below.

Essential cookies

These are strictly necessary: without them you could not stay logged in, and the site cannot function for account holders. They are first-party, set by BuddyEase, not an outside company, and secured so they cannot be read by scripts in your browser. They keep your session active and sign you out when you log out. Because they exist only to make a logged-in session work, they are always on while you are signed in.

Analytics & functional storage

To understand how the site is used, for example how many people finish booking, we store a small amount of anonymous data in your browser. It contains no name, email or other personal detail, and it is never shared with advertisers. We also use short-lived functional storage to make a few features smoother, such as carrying your first message into the support chat. This kind of storage clears when you close the tab or clear your browser data.

Third-party cookies

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The one exception is at checkout: when you make a payment, our payment processor Stripe may set its own cookies to process the transaction and prevent fraud. Those cookies are controlled by Stripe and governed by their own cookie and privacy policies, not this one.

Managing your cookies

  • Browser controls: every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy & security. Deleting our cookies simply logs you out; your account and bookings are unaffected.
  • Essential cookies: because these exist only to keep you signed in, blocking them means you will not be able to log in or complete a booking.
  • Analytics: our analytics is anonymous and stored only in your browser. Clearing your site data removes it, and it can be disabled at the site level.

Cookie FAQ

Does BuddyEase use advertising or tracking cookies?

No. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics like Google Analytics or the Meta pixel. The only cookies we set are the essential ones that keep you signed in.

Do I need to accept cookies to use the site?

You can browse experiences, read guides and get a custom trip plan without logging in. The essential cookies are only set once you sign in. They are what makes a logged-in session possible, so they cannot be turned off while you are logged in.

Can I turn off analytics?

Yes. Our analytics is anonymous and stored only in your browser, and it can be disabled entirely at the site level. Clearing your browser data also removes it.

How do I remove cookies that are already stored?

Every browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data, usually under Settings → Privacy. Deleting our cookies simply logs you out; nothing is lost from your account.
